General information about traversing unit

Traversing unit on a smooth shaft is designed for uniform laying of cables and other winding products on reels of any width.

The operating principle of a linear stacker is based on the use of friction between the drive shaft and the shaft ring to convert the rotational motion of the drive shaft into linear motion of the stacker in both directions along a smooth shaft. A ball bearing mechanism is used to switch the pitch stroke. By changing the angle of the shaft clamp holder, you can adjust the speed of the pitch along the smooth shaft. Depending on the wire thickness, an appropriate chain or belt drive should be selected. In general, the rotational speed ratio between the rod and the winding axis ranges from 1:1 to 1:5.

  2. Balance bearing adjustment: The guide rollers (C and D) and guide rails (A) are used to adjust the guide rails. If the distance between the two rollers does not match the width of the guide rail, remove the bolt on the lower roller (D) and rotate the nut (B) until the appropriate clearance for carriage movement is achieved.   3. Pitch Adjustment: The scale (A) of the folding cage has marks from 0 to 10, which are used to set the pitch of the carriage. To set the required value, click on the indicator (B), then divide it by the coefficient and set the required value. Traversing unit components
  4. Release handle: When installing GP 3-20 on a smooth shaft (B), the handle (A) must be in a weakened state (horizontal position “0”). When the arms are relaxed, the carriage moves freely along the smooth shaft in any direction. To put the machine into working condition, it is necessary to return the handle to the vertical position (position “I”). Traversing unit components
  5. Shaft rotation direction: The direction of rotation of the smooth shaft (C) is related to the position of the trigger (B) (reversing mechanism). To change the direction of shaft rotation, the trigger position must be reset to 180°. Traversing unit components Traversing unit components
  6. Adjusting the bearing thrust pressure (thrust adjustment): There are two nuts on the folding carriage for adjusting the axial pressure of the bearings: one in the upper center, the other in the lower left part. A slight turn of the nut changes the pressure on the bearing. If the pressure does not meet the required value, adjust the two nuts to a suitable condition. Traversing unit components
  7. Forward and backward step error adjustment: If the steps of the left and right configuration (carriage movement left and right) are not the same, correction is made. Loosen bolt (A) and adjust flange nut (B) until desired setting is achieved. Then tighten the bolt. Traversing unit components
  8. Service: When using the folding carriage, the smooth shaft (A) must be oiled regularly to keep the working surface lubricated. When the folding carriage is not used, the free movement handle (B) should be in the “0” position. Traversing unit components
