General Information about the spark tester
The spark tester is the special device, that used for high-voltage cables disruptive ("breakdown") test. "Breakdown" is the electrical breakdown of the cable insulation that can lead to catastrophic consequences such as a fire accident or short circuit.
The spark tester consists of several parts, including a high voltage source, a special sound that applies electrical voltage to the cable insulating sheath, and a device for measuring current and voltage parameters.
Cable disruptive ("breakdown") test is carried out by applying high voltage to the cable insulating sheath with using the sound. If the cable sheath is securely insulated, electric current will not pass through the sheath and there will be no short circuit.
